In the mood for some summer reading? The UConn Health Sciences Library Student Book Club has got you covered!

Join us Monday, June 30th from 5:00pm to 6:00pm for our very first book discussion! For this first gathering we will be discussing Kaveh Akbar's debut novel, Martyr! 

A dazzling exploration of faith, identity, addiction, and the immigrant experience, the novel follows Cyrus Shams, an Iranian American recovering addict and aspiring writer obsessed with the idea of martyrdom -both political and personal. This is a book that invites discussion on everything from generational trauma to American identity, from the role of art to the nature of belief.

The Student Book Club will be meeting in Onyiuke (Main Building, FM002). Stop by to enjoy some light refreshments, participate in our conversation about Martyr!, and share ideas for our next book discussion.
